The Story
What a fascinating experience it was to be a part of the new History Channel program, American Pickers. We were delighted to welcome Mike and Frank to Lexington SC to film their first ever SC American Pickers show right here at the Old Barn General Store and Harmon's Tree Farm. The show features as hosts, two very," salt of the earth guys," from Iowa, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz. This program currently has approximately Six Million viewers and is well on its way to becoming one of the most exciting Reality Television Programs for folks in the 25 to 55 age bracket who love antiquing. These two guys travel the United States in search of vintage pieces of forgotten Americana History. They find these pieces in places like old barns, junk yards, attics, old theatres and many other remote and unlikely places, all while free wheeling the back roads and highways of America in their Antique Archeology Van. The people they meet in their travels become a part of the show and have their own story to share about the pieces that Mike and Frank purchase. The filming in Lexington, SC consumed an entire day. First starting at the Old Barn General Store and finally ending at Harmon's Tree Farm. In fact, what took 8 hours to film will produce only 30 minutes of TV time. The entire show was non scripted and truly Reality TV. Mike and Frank were naturals and along with their Production crew made everyone feel at ease during the filming of the American Pickers show. As the filming concluded and it came time to load their Lexington County bounty, Mike and Frank and the entire crew didn't mind rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands dirty either. At the end of the day we waved goodbye and watched as they drove away, full of excitement about our new experience, we were equally as sad to see them go.
Thanks Mike and Frank and all of the Crew, and please, come again!
