The Old Barn General Story. What started for me as a childhood fascination with old general stores and barns has now grown into a business for my wife and I. Fifteen years ago, I began collecting antiques that you would have seen in South Carolina turn of the century general stores. Up until the 1960s there were many of these old general stores remaining in South Carolina. Even more fascinating than the stores and all their wares were the merchants who ran these stores. Sadly, most of these merchants have long since passed away. As for the stores that were once the center of commerce and community meetings, well, they too have all but faded away.In an effort to recreate the old general store of the south, my wife and I built a new store and aged it to resemble an old turn of the century general store. We now utilize these old time general store fixtures and antiques we have collected in our own store. Old Barn General Store is a merging of merchandise from present day with that part of our cultural commerce history that has now forever retired. Bring your family and enjoy a part of the past in the new. .
